To the City of Thousand
Oaks:
As a resident of Thousand Oaks,
I value our city's unique quality of life. Thoughtful planning went
into the
General Plan and zoning ordinances which govern land
use in our city.
The City should not allow new developments that
do not meet our standards. I oppose the plan to build
a Home Depot on Hampshire
Road.
Not only does this Home Depot plan not fit into the
neighborhood, but also it will bring more traffic,
air pollution, noise to our
city. There are no time limits on so-called
"exterior activities" - like truck loading and unloading and forklifts moving
materials - so the noise will occur later in the night and earlier
in the
morning than the store's operating hours.
And this regional warehouse store will operate 14 hours
a day, every day! It will bring daily deliveries by
large diesel-spewing
tractor-trailer trucks hauling materials to the store. These
deliveries will
create noise, pollution, and gridlock from 7 a.m.
to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday,
every week...forever.
The City must take action to preserve our quality of
life. The time to act is now. Please reject the plan
for the Home Depot on Hampshire Road.
